Basically an activist & writer, Simmy Joseph completed his PhD from JNU, New Delhi.
In 2013, he established Initiative Films in Delhi to make movies on socially and politically relevant themes.
His first movie ANYA (in Hindi and Marathi) is under post production.
Next projects TEESRI DUNIYA (Hindi) and GOD IS A WOMAN (English) are all set to shoot in 2020
Simmy has been passionately pursuing a pan Indian and international outlook in selecting themes and issues for his movies.
ANYA is a Hindi and Marathi movie written and directed by Simmy. Atul kulkarni, Prathamesh Parab, Bhushan Pradhan and Raima Sen etc are in the leads. Marathi actresses Tejashree Pradhan and Krutika Deo also do an important role in the movie.
Simmy has authored ‘The Art of Satyagraha‘ (2008) discussing the philosophical background of Gandhism. He has also scripted THE MESSIAHS (2009) on the Jewish Guerrilla warfare against Romans.
Simmy heads a social organization - PEOPLE’S INITIATIVE - which focuses on research and volunteer activities for the welfare of the underprivileged. Through LEAD INDIA and GRAMIN BHARATH programmes, People’s Initiative is keen to organize numerous national integration campaigns.
